2017 Casa Freschi Ragazzi Chardonnay
|Region||Adelaide Hills + Langhorne Creek, SA|
Casa Freschi was one of the first Italian wine style specialists in Australia for sommeliers to cut their teeth on back in the late 90’s. Already a very experienced winemaker, it was David Freschi’s vintage in Puglia in 1994 that provided the final inspiration for Casa Freschi. Drawing initially from a vineyard in Langhorne Creek planted in 1972 by his father, David produced the Profondo and La Signora red wines from Cabernet, Shiraz and Malbec; Nebbiolo has since been added. In 2003 he purchased an old high altitude orchard and market garden on Mt Lofty in the Adelaide Hills and established high density plantings of Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Riesling and Gewürztraminer for a premium white wine range. Both vineyards are now farmed with organic practices. All wines are made with minimal interference to allow the vineyards and regions to express themselves clearly. The whites are some of the most textural, aromatic and pure wines of the Adelaide Hills and the reds show the warmth and generosity of Langhorne with more than a nod to Southern Italy.
|Wine||A wonderful, fresh chardonnay. Think fresh citrus blossom, lemon, lime, apple and pear aromas. The palate is fresh and lively, with concentrated nectarine and apple flavours and a soft creamy texture supported by crisp, minerally acidity and finishing with excellent length of flavour.|
|Tasting Note||Citrus - Nectarine - Crisp|
