2018 Blind Corner Aligote
|Region||Margaret River, WA|
|Status||Certified Organic and Biodynamic with Australian Certified Organic (ACO)|
Inspired by a European ‘vineyard and surf’ van trip, Ben and Naomi Gould set about converting their ‘Wilyabrup’ vineyard to organics and biodynamics. They haven’t looked back, and now have a second vineyard ‘Quindalup’, both vineyards including winery and in-house bottling are certified organic. Biodynamic veggie gardens, beehives and free range chooks scratching around the vines all coexist to create a natural way of farming and delicious tasting wine.
|Wine||Aligote originates from Burgundy, France and makes a dry white wine with high acidity and citrus flavours. This highly limited batch is made from the only planting of Aligote grapes in the state (and one of three in the whole country). It took three years to organically grow enough grapes for a single barrel, which was wild fermented and rough filtered to bottle, keeping the wine as close to the vineyard as possible.|
The result is a dry white that has citrus and floral notes with a striking palate weight. Its crisp flavour makes for ultra refreshing drinking, sip after sip after sip.
