2019 Blind Corner Pinot Grigio
|Region||Margaret River, WA|
|Status||Certified Organic and Biodynamic with Australian Certified Organic (ACO)|
Inspired by a European ‘vineyard and surf’ van trip, Ben and Naomi Gould set about converting their ‘Wilyabrup’ vineyard to organics and biodynamics. They haven’t looked back, and now have a second vineyard ‘Quindalup’, both vineyards including winery and in-house bottling are certified organic. Biodynamic veggie gardens, beehives and free range chooks scratching around the vines all coexist to create a natural way of farming and delicious tasting wine.
|Wine||From our third harvest of the graft block at Quindalup, this small run of Pinot Grigio was hand-picked and wild skin-fermented like a red wine. It was then foot-crushed and hand-plunged, before going into oak barrels to finish ferment.|
The result is a fine balance of sweetness and bitterness, that gives off subtle red fruit flavours with a slightly peppery finish.
A fascinating white that can be thought of as a full-bodied, complex rose. Must taste.
|Tasting Note||Red fruits - Savoury - Balanced|
