919 Wines is a small family company, based in Glossop, South Australia, approximately 3 hours from Adelaide. The company was founded in 1999, with the first vineyard established in 2002, and the first vintage in 2004. The vineyards and wines are certified organic, in keeping with their philosophy of living sustainably within the environment. 919 wines are grown organically using sustainable farming, low yielding techniques and minimal water application. They place great emphasis on improving soil quality and biodiversity in the vineyard, from bird and animal life to insects, plants and microorganisms. Grape varieties grown are well suited to the warmer climate and specialise non-traditional varieties, such as Vermentino, Petit Manseng, Durif, Tempranillo and Touriga Nacional.
|Wine||Vermentino is a variety originally found in Sardinia and Tuscany. It produces a dry citrus style that can be made unoaked or oaked. The 919 has citrus and floral notes with a creamy honeyed and vanilla palate. Perfect with fish, chicken and tangy salad dressings. 11% ABV|
